Besides your wedding day, the birth of your child is one of the most important days of your Life. Investing in a birth photographer allows your partner to be your support & allows them to live each moment with you instead of behind a camera. It ensures that everything is carefully & professionally documented so that it can be relived later & you get those memorable moments captured with your partner in them. Without a birth photographer, you may be left with just a few camera phone pictures of the baby after delivery. I will help you to capture the amazing labor process & the incredible birth miracle! The birth of a child is one of the most beautiful things you will experience in life & I am honored to document every moment of it.
Birth & labor are very unpredictable. These are not typical portrait sessions; the lighting is usually dim & it’s difficult to plan what’s going to happen. I will shoot glimpses of your labor & birth unfolding naturally in a photo-journal style. Being trained as an LVN, I will be sensitive to your needs as a laboring woman; I understand my role to document quietly & unobtrusively. Being on both sides of the birth process, I also understand which special moments you may want.

Once we've locked in your date, I will send you a proposal that will include your tentative payment plan and contract agreement. Non-refundable retainers are $250 & are due with your signed agreement to secure your date. The remaining balance is due by 37 weeks gestation. We also use this time to meet up or schedule a Zoom meeting to chat all about your birth plan & details!

HOW SOON SHOULD I BOOK my package?
As soon as possible! I take a limited number of births per year/month. Contact me as soon as you know you're expecting!
DO WE MEET BEFORE THE BIRTH?
Yes! I always love meeting my clients to ensure you know who is coming to your birth & are comfortable. If you do not want to meet in person we can schedule a Zoom call or FaceTime. We will chat about all the details & go over your birth plan.
do you TRAVEL?
YES! I love to travel! Depending on how far away your birth location is we can see if it is a good fit.
WHEN DO YOU ARRIVE?
I will arrive to begin coverage when you are in active labor. Typically this is around 5-7cm. Birth is unpredictable & things can change at the drop of a hat. I like to stay in communication throughout the day to ensure your birth won't be missed!
WHAT IF YOU MISS THE BIRTH?
This can happen unfortunately. Make sure you are in communication with me about your progress or delegate this task to someone to do it for you. If I miss your birth because baby came too quickly, I try to document as much afterwards as I can. If too many moments are missed I offer a newborn or fresh 48 session in replace.
WHAT IF I HAVE A C-SECTION?
Cesareans are part of your birth story! Dependent on the hospitals rules, I will follow you into the operating room. If the hospital does not allow Photographers in the OR, we can still document your story & all of the emotion before and after!
WHAT IS YOUR TURN AROUND TIME?
After your birth I will send you a few highlights of the day while you wait for your full gallery. In my contract it specifies that I may take up to 4 weeks to return photos, however I do my best to provide them to clients as fast as I can. This is just a cushion & safe guesstimate in case life gets in the way. Running a house of 3 boys is not for the faint of heart!
HOW DO I RECEIVE MY IMAGES?
You will receive your images in an private, password protective digital gallery. All images are high- res, hand edited & available for immediate download to your device.
HOW DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENTS?
I accept payments through my online booking site. Payments are processed through STRIPE with payment plan options available.
WILL YOU POST MY IMAGES ONLINE?
I only share images with permission from my clients. Birth photos are so powerfully beautiful & leaves me in awe of the miracle that is the women's body. I hope your story empowers and inspires other women out there as well!

Carissa has been involved on some level with photographing multiple life events for us by now, namely our wedding and most recently the birth of our son (okay it was almost a year ago, but it feels like half a minute), but our experience with Carissa during the birth of our son stands out the most in my memory, not only because of how wonderful Carissa's photos are (they are ALWAYS wonderful, regardless of the event), but more because of who Carissa is at the center of her being.
Our birth started out quite normally, we were at a birthing center and Carissa was with us, but at a certain point things got far too intense and we no longer felt safe, so we transferred to the hospital with the knowledge we were likely headed for a c-section. While I would have expected Carissa to leave since we were moving locations and things were not progressing as planned, she calmly and happily joined us. What wonderful photos we have of all of the staff I am forever grateful for, of my husband, and of course, the shining star (our little troublemaker) - my son! Those first moments are priceless, and I credit my memories of those to her.
Ultimately, while I was focused on the terrorizing pain I felt and the fear of the situation, Carissa remained focused on preserving beautiful memories for me to look back on and cherish. Carissa stayed with us like a loyal friend and even followed us into recovery to capture the first moments I was able to hold my son - what a committed soul. Since my son's birth, I have often looked back on our photos and felt a sense of comfort and of grounding in being able to now enjoy all of the loving details of that day. There are honestly no words strong enough to capture the immense gratitude I have for what Carissa did for our family and for who she is, but I hope this speaks to what a wonderful photographer and person she is. We feel so lucky to have shared these moments with her - we are certainly better for it."
